Paul J. Zak joined Finsbury in 2016 as a Senior Advisor, focusing on reputation management, C-suite communications, and employee engagement. He is known throughout the business community as a scientist, prolific author, entrepreneur, and public speaker, primarily for his work using neuroscience to improve organizational performance. Paul is the founding Director of the Center for Neuroeconomics Studies and Professor of Economics, Psychology and Management at Claremont Graduate University. He has been credited with pioneering the field of "neuroeconomics,” having organized and administered the first doctoral program in neuroeconomics. Much of his work ties back to his discovery, in 2004, of how the brain chemical oxytocin influences trust and relationships. He is the author of three books: Trust Factor: The Science of Creating High-Performance Companies; The Moral Molecule: The Source of Love and Prosperity – a finalist for the Wellcome Trust Book Prize – and Moral Markets: The Critical Role of Values in the Economy. Paul is a regular TED speaker and has appeared on Good Morning America, Dr. Phil, Fox & Friends, ABC’s World News Tonight, and NPR. He has published thought leadership in the Harvard Business Review on “The Neuroscience of Trust,” and his work has been covered by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Time, The Economist, Scientific American, Fast Company, Forbes, and many others. Paul has degrees in mathematics and economics from San Diego State University, a Ph.D. in economics from University of Pennsylvania, and post-doctoral training in neuroimaging from Harvard.
