Michael Abrahams works with C-suite executives at companies across a range of industries on complicated reputation, financial and workplace issues. He has deep experience with major corporate crises, litigation and labor issues in the U.S., Europe, Middle East and Asia as well as high-profile special situations, including mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcies, activist campaigns, contract negotiations and CEO transitions. Michael also works extensively on multi-national merger integration efforts and internal communications during transformational moments of crisis, scrutiny or change. He has been featured recently in the Financial Times and PR Week and on the BBC. As a Partner at Finsbury, Michael spent much of 2016 based in the Netherlands serving as the interim head of Global Communications for Royal Ahold N.V., one of the world’s largest food and online retailers. In this role, Michael oversaw external, internal and executive communications, investor relations and public affairs activities in the U.S. and Europe and managed the company's successful, $29 billion, cross-border merger with Brussels-based Delhaize Group. Other assignments have included:
  • The recall crisis, litigation and subsequent brand recovery at Toyota;
  • The launch of a new business strategy, M&A support and response to activist investors at Swiss industrial giant ABB;
  • A cross-border acquisition for German media company Axel Springer;
  • Multi-union pressure campaigns and corporate positioning for CVS;
  • The introduction of a new leadership team and business strategy at Nielsen;
  • The restructuring and eventual merger of United Airlines
  • High-profile foreign litigation for BNY Mellon.
Michael previously worked in Washington, DC, overseeing communications for National Public Radio (NPR). He began his career in politics, working in Washington as part of NPR’s government relations team and with a national trade association. He also has served with several political campaigns at the national and state levels. Michael holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and an M.A. in Politics and Public Policy from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.
